University of Nevada, Reno: Summer Session & Intensive English Language Programs

Summer Session offers more than 1,000 classes every summer in order to provide students with the opportunity to earn additional credits toward their degrees. Students who take classes in the summer semester graduate sooner!

Students can move closer to completing their educational goal, while enjoying the serenity and beauty of campus during the summer months. The mission of Summer Session at the University of Nevada, Reno is to provide a quality educational experience complete with recreational activities during the summer months. The primary purpose of this fully functioning third semester is to provide a broad-based curriculum of undergraduate and graduate courses that afford degree-seeking students opportunities to make steady progress toward graduation.

For over 30 years the Intensive English Language Center (IELC) has been teaching students the English language skills needed to enroll in United States colleges and universities, as well as providing instruction to students wishing to improve their general English ability for professional or personal reasons. We offer six levels of instruction: beginning to graduate. UNR photo5The IELC offers a full-time English program, with 20 class hours per week. Students may select from six levels of instruction, from beginning to graduate studies, with programs available in 5-, 8-, 10- and 16-week formats. Conditional Undergraduate and Graduate Admission*: Students who are academically qualified, but lack the English proficiency may receive Conditional Admission to the University of Nevada, Reno.

University Admission Without TOEFL/IELTS*: Students may attend the University of Nevada, Reno or other Nevada colleges without an English proficiency test score, after completing the IELC program and receiving a recommendation from us.

*Graduate students, please check with your program to see if they offer Conditional Admission or accept the IELC recommendation to fulfill the TOEFF/IELTS requirement before applying.
